Group Discussion on First Draft of e-Commerce Strategy
Group discussion on the first draft of the e-commerce strategy was held officials from the Department of Trade, International experts from UNCTAD led the discussion from 2020 August 30 to September 4.
Relevant departments / organizations; Private organizations; Entrepreneurs need an organizational framework to implement the e-commerce strategy. E-commerce platforms; Technology infrastructure and services; Facilitating logistics and trade; Payment and financial services environment; Legal and regulatory framework; E-commerce skills development; Detailed discussions were held on draft issues, such as funding and support for start-ups, trade agreements and other international commitments.
The goals and objectives of these discussions; Suggestions on processes and priorities; Discussions and related departments / organizations; Private organizations; A compilation of written comments from business owners will be made into amendments to the draft strategy by 2020. It will be held in October.
Then, the technical and financial support needed for the implementation of the e-commerce strategy will be provided to the relevant departments / organizations. Private organizations; Business owners; The search will be conducted in collaboration with international development partners.
Public- private group discussions will be held in 2020 to establish a strong monitoring and evaluation framework in line with the objectives of the COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan ( CERP ) and the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP). The next steps will be discussed in November.
The e-commerce strategy is being developed by the Myanmar Services Trade Enhancement Project (MSTEP), which is being implemented as an EIF Tier-2 phase. The final draft is due in December.
The sectoral discussions were held for five days from August 31 to September 4, with a total of over 600 people attending the daily discussions.
